| What I've been telling people is that it isn't a very good musical, but it's a great theatrical experience. In terms of finding (good, working) songs for these characters to sing I didn't think much of it. But that is true of a lot of shows I see. The difference is that in this one, I felt that with the special effects, the way they hit all the memorable moments from the film, and the great cast, especially Likes, it was ultimately satisfying. I wondered what it would be like without the songs. Certainly not a traditional musical. But...oh theme park show is so pejorative...I guess I will re-state: theatrical experience. Do I hope a lot of shows do this in the future, no. But I was surprised by what a good time I had. | |
