Moon for the Misbegotten originally flopped but has returned very successfully in several revivals. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest flopped originally on Braodway, returned off-Broadway with great success, and then became a major Hollywood film success. The Crucible originally disappointed on Broadway and lost its investment, then returned in a very successful off-Broadway run, and now is an American classic. On a Clear Day You Can See Forever flopped in 1965 and Paint Your Wagon flopped in 1951, but they were major films with stars attached though neither film was an improvement. On a Clear Day film did make money, not sure about Paint Your Wagon as a film.
