| I just read about Patti Lupone's screed about the current state of Broadway. Something along the lines of Broadway not educating but pandering and generally about what people need from the theater. So pretentious and condescending and really full of s_ _t.. Granted ticket prices are way over priced but for most shows there are ways of getting some discounts. About it being like the circus or Las Vegas. Stereophonic, Kimberly Akimbo, An Enemy of the People, Appropriate, The Mother Play, MaryJane, Patriots, Merrily We Roll Along, Lempica, Hadestown, Uncle Vanya,, Sweeney Todd, Hell's Kitchen, Suffs. Not all successful but certainly worthy of consideration and not Vegas. . It's commercial theater not subsidized not for profit theater and Patti just sounds like an old curmudgeon who hasn't had a Bway hit in awhile | |
