I know another poster on this thread thought that it reminded them of a character that Gyllenhaal did with John Mulaney, but it really reminded me of the character of Val duVal, one of the many characters played by the leading man in LITTLE ME.

If you're not familiar, Val is the French cabaret singer that Belle Poitrine marries after WWI and who goes down on the ocean liner "Gigantic" en route to New York, after which Belle gets a large insurance settlement from the steamship company for the loss of her husband and luggage. Val couldn't remember the word for "Help," apparently. And, of course, Belle is saved by her one true love, Noble Eggleston, who also happens to be on the ship.

I would absolutely adore a revival of LITTLE ME with Gyllenhaal opposite Megan Hilty. And I'd prefer that they do the revised version that was done at the Roundabout in the 90's with Martin Short and Faith Prince, so that Hilty doesn't have to split the role with another actress.
