yes! Sorry I thought my sarcasm was loud and clear but perhaps it needed more context.

My issue is not that we shouldn't have "new bookwriters", it's A) as you said, pairing new theater songwriters with writers new to crafting a musical's book, and B) that it's being bizarrely conflated that excellent writers of play dramas will automatically make good book writers, whether to a new musical with an original score or to a jukebox musical. Take a look, it's an extraordinary number of new musicals with books by, or co-written by, notable drama playwrights who have been pulitzer finalists or winners for playwriting. It's as if producers and songwriters new to theater think book writing is the same as writing plays. Or screenplays.
