| THE SECRETS WE KEEP, a Holocaust-era musical that was supposed to begin a 4-run performance tonight, was canceled by the American Theatre of Actors because it was afraid the subject matter was too "incendiary" (do they even get the bitter irony?) in light of the current war in the Middle East, blaming "insurance concerns." Never mind that the perils of Jews in 1940s Poland has nothing to do with Israel or the Palestinians. What a craven and I believe antisemitic act by the American Theater of Actors. Fortunately, the Marjorie Deane Little Theater of the West Side YMCA came to the rescue and is hosting the performance run. I will never patronize the American Theatre of Actors again. | |
