Laura Linney is 60 and so is Edie Falco (mentioned elsewhere in the thread) and Cynthia Nixon is 58 (the other women mentioned are younger, but I'm not sure either is box office enough at this point).

While none of these actresses has to date done a replacement gig, we keep hearing how few and far between roles for older actresses are. And here is an extremely high profile one on Broadway, the very pinnacle of a stage actor's career. If it were possible for this play to extend, I cannot imagine that any of these women wouldn't, at least, consider the gig, assuming they don't have higher profile jobs already in the works that would conflict. Nixon would have to work around AND JUST LIKE THAT, but I'm not aware of anything in the pipeline for the others.

Any of them taking over in such a juicy role in such a high profile play would be newsworthy and I'm sure there would be lots of press and critics would be invited back. No award consideration, but there'd be lots of publicity about them and, hopefully, great reviews of their performance.
