Thank you, that was beautifully said.
I wrote the review, and had never seen the show before. But the singer, Emily Bautista (as the grown-up Eponine) seemed to me to be channeling a more modern sense of strength that young women have these days. Maybe it's usually performed in a more heartbroken manner. This time I was overwhelmed, at the Muny production, by the character's towering drive to overcome the terrible pain of losing Marius.
I just assumed all Eponine's did that! She was amazing, as was the entire cast.
