| I was wondering about the specific choice of making this character a 10th grader. Since it’s clear (and he reminds us) he is actually an adult playing a 10th grader, it seems to be a very particular choice. I, too, thought it would be more logical for him to be in college or grad school. Bersani is not part of any 10th grade curriculum I’ve ever heard of, especially now with all the policing of what is being taught in schools. Can you imagine local school boards debating the merits of reading “Is the Rectum a Grave?” I can only imagine how many pearls would be clutched. But maybe that’s the point. |
