I imagine the Drama League has the discretion to do whatever it wants, and the ''Merrily'' trio of Groff, Radcliffe and Mendez would be a rare excaption.
Actually, I thought the League had an out: They're already giving its Distinguished Achievement in Musical Theater to Groff at the same ceremony. He could've been excused from the list of Distinguished Performance nominees, and they might've just nominated Radcliffe and Mendez, but no.
On the hand, it doesn't look like the Drama League was willing to make another trio exception for ''Hell's Kitchen'': Two of its veteran performers, Shoshana Bean and Kecia Lewis, got nominated, but not the show's leading lady who's making her Broadway debut: Maleah Joi Moon. |
