Not specifically regarding Lea Michele, but I wonder if the producers might consider female-identified actors for the Emcee role? As far as I know, all the actors who've played it in London have been either male-identifying or non-binary. But I have definitely heard about female actors playing the role in other productions.
More specifically to Lea Michele, I'd be curious to see what her Sally might be like, especially since the actresses in this production seem to have been directed to play Sally in an over-the top nervous breakdown kind of way without regard to pretty singing. Michele has always seems like a very controlled performer and I'd be curious to see if she could get to such a crazy place. And if she could put aside her singing abilities to play the role the way it's being directed. |
