What cast recording? Wonderful Town absolutely has Donna singing part she played (Ruth). Are you thinking of the 2nd cast recording of that revival, when Brooke Shields replaced? This is the same as the Donna Murphy album, just with Ruth and Eileen replacements Brooke Shields and Jennifer Hope Wills (replaced Jennifer Westfeldt) parts re-recorded.
as it shook out, Murphy/Westfeldt is 2003, but Shields/Wills is 2004.
Don't ask me why they bothered with the expense of recording and mixing it and then printing the new CD and new liner notes/new artwork... I don't imagine either album sold super well, but I don't think there's such a demand for Brooke Shields content that people were buying this album. Maybe I'm wrong.
For the record, I adore the artwork on the 2003 album, and really don't like the 2004 album art. It's like a lazy studio album. |
