| Badly cast, badly directed, badly designed - especially hideous and inapt costumes. Badly adapted. A lot of screaming, much wailing crying, much hysterical laughter. An important scene played far up stage while music being played downstage almost drowns it out. A loud sound Q opens the show, possibly leftover from the director's other current show. Didn't believe a single work uttered. Mr Carrell a great film and Tv actor - seems lost. Had we ever noticed that his arms don't move when he walks? And no emotion - felt or expressed. This was as dismal a VANYA as I have ever seen, with nothing to recommend it. Well. One thing. |
