The Loush (rhymes with loose) Sisters are back at Cleveland Public Theatre for their biennial holiday season appearance. These purported daughters of Santa Claus, (Holly (Beth Wood), Jolly (Liz Conway) and Butter Rum (Sheffia Randall Dooley), once more present their lounge act in search of a lounge. The Loush sisters Get Hard For The Holidays (Yippie-Kai-Yi-Mother Loushers)) is a bawdy, profane-laced and bordering on the sacrilegious takeoff of the popular Die Hard movies.

For those in the Cleveland theater tribe who simply cannot bear to see another Christmas-themed show of the type that has become a permanent fixture of the holiday landscape, this show is a breath of fresh air. While it is fast paced, rude and crude, it is also viciously funny. This year, Santa's angels take on the anti-Christmas beast Krampus (Brian Pedaci), his henchwoman Karla (Jennifer Woda), and their four minions (Ryan Edlinger, Brian O. Jackson, Colleen McCaughey, and Hillary Wheelock). While performing a huge list of popular songs, carols and hymns, the girls booze and drug their way to victory. Supplying the music via piano is Buck McDaniel, who does a masterful job.

Holly and Jolly are back in Cleveland as part of their I-480 Tour of Destiny, minus their sister Butter Rum who was last seen at the Republican National Convention and is rumored to have been whisked away to Russia as part of a nefarious government plan. The gals are in the middle of their act when their arch enemy Krampus and his entourage appear with the intention of kidnapping the girls in order to defeat their dad (Santa). Just in the nick of time, Butter Rum arrives with her full size (and very hairy) Panda Bear in order to save the day.

If you are looking for sugar and spice, this ain't the show for you. It is one dirty double entendre after another in a machine gun rapid-fire sequence that defies description. For example, they sing a prayer to their patron saint Judy Garland and those who imitate her, ending with a resounding "Gayyyyyyymennnnnnn!"

This is a show for mature adults and if you like your comedy and booze straight up with a chaser on the side you will have a blast.

Like a biennial plague of Christmas locusts, the Loush Sisters once again wreak havoc on our Christmas traditions and sensibilities (this is not a bad thing). The entire ensemble is entirely into their characters and is having as much fun as the audience.
