Christopher M. Nelson has a vibrant, intense voice that brings out the character when singing. This talented singer appeared at Society Cabaret in Hotel Rex on September 23 performing 18 songs ranging from pop standards to Broadway show songs. He is a laid-back sort of crooner and there is little patter between songs.

The show was called

Love, Losses & Longings. Christopher started out with Cole Porter's "Let's Not Talk About Love." He sang with pitch perfect resonance Michel Legrand's "The Way He Makes Me Feel" to his husband Scott Lacy, who accompanied him on piano. He was ebullient singing the county western song "Oh Lonesome Me" and extremely dramatic while singing Stephen Sondheim's "Not While I'm Around" and "Marry Me A Little." He rocked with Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane's "The Trolley Song" and "The Man That Got Away" by Harold Arlen and Ira Gershwin. The songster was sublime singing Carole King's "So Far Away" and Lynn Aherns and Stephen Flaherty's "Alone in the Universe." He concluded with Jason Robert Brown's "Someone to Fall Back On."

It was a great night of singing.
