Gloria Picillo

KP Productions recently presented Gloria Picillo for one show only at The Show Box Theatre on February 19, 2006. Miss Picillo is a stage and cabaret performer who regularly appears throughout Palm Beach and Broward counties. Previously she has appeared at the Crest Theatre in Rags To Riches, Snap Shots, Sentimental Journey, Bon Voyage, and Around The World.

Her one-hour cabaret show also features the talents of singer Marcel Rasa, who frequently appeared at the popular Interlude club in Ft. Lauderdale until its recent closing. Mr. Rasa had a lovely lyric sound on the Irish favorite "Danny Boy," and some nice duet moments with Miss Picillo, but got a bit lost in "Music Of The Night" from Phantom Of The Opera.

Miss Picillo was both pretty and poised. Her hearty soprano voice lends itself best to the legit sound of the classic Broadway musicals. The show itself could benefit from more of a through-line. This would be easily resolved with additional dialogue or stories, as her personality is pleasing. But it is in her singing of numbers such as Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again," "Getting To Know You" from The King And I, and "Part Of Your World" from The Little Mermaid where she truly shines.
