Golden Apple Dinner Theater Finds a New Home!

Things have been very rough for The Golden Apple Dinner Theater in the past few years. First they were hit hard by the rough economy. They slowed down operations to try and hold things together, but were forced to sell their building to keep operating. With the past two summers very slow they fell behind in rent payments and were evicted from what had been their home for 40+ years.

There is now some good news to report to fans of Robert Turoff and his wife Roberta McDonald. An agreement for a new performing space has been reached and they will begin performances in November at The Ramada Inn, 7150 N. Tamiami Trail, in Bradenton. All activities will take place under the auspices of their new non-profit production company PLATO which stands for Professional Learning and Theatrical Organization.

The first production for general audiences is Waist Watchers: The Musical by Alan Jacobson and directed by Kyle Ennis Turoff. The show is about women, their love and hate relationships with food and dieting. The show will run from November 15, 2012, through January 6, 2013.

PLATO will also have a schedule of children's shows which begins with Rumpelstiltskin by Beth Duda and Adam Ratner. Performances will be on Saturdays at 1O A.M. and 11:30 A.M, November 17 through December 8, 2012.

PLATO Platinum Players, a senior's performing group will offer their salute to the holidays Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree the weekend of December 15 and 16th.

With the wide range of performances we are wishing our friends The Turoffs the best of luck in their new digs.

Contact Golden Apple/PLATO through Ramada Inn at 941 358-1000 for more information on performance dates and times and pricing.
