Chicago ... the Steak!

If you live in the Danville or Selinsgrove area of Pennsylvania no doubt you've seen the huge black billboards proclaiming Chicago...the steak!. I received this postcard in the mail today and got a good chuckle. And I'm told the food is nothing to laugh at! Huge 3/4 pound center cut certified Angus Sirloin seasoned with smoky Chicago Steakhouse seasonings are the rigor at BJ's Steakhouse. Are you salivating yet? The restaurants are casual to upscale and have been around since 1982.

A lot of the tourists get the joke while the locals are a bit slower on the take. Very clever marketing if you ask me. So, head on over to Chicago ... the Steak! They've got two locations, 17 North Market Street in Selinsgrove, and the other at 291 Mill Street in Danville. Or you can visit their website. Make sure you tell them that Talkin' Broadway sent you and that we love their sense of humor.

In other Chicago...the Musical news, many fans were getting excited about Chita Rivera and Mamie Duncan-Gibbs going out on tour across the states. They were making plans on meeting in Long Beach, Ca. or other cities to see this exciting duo of killer dillers. Alas, it's not going to happen. The touring company which was to come to the U.S. from Europe will now fold in Portugal. It would have been a dream come true to see these 2 gals work together. Mamie is currently in the Broadway cast and Chita was recently seen in Anything Goes at Papermill where she garnered good reviews.

While Chita Rivera is a Broadway legend, Mamie Duncan-Gibbs is a star in the making. Mamie played opposite Sandy Duncan on Broadway as Velma Kelly and also did a stint in the Las Vegas production at Mandalay Bay where she received nightly standing ovations. Of course, Rivera originated the role of Velma Kelly on Broadway in 1975; I've always said that Mamie is my favorite, next to Chita, of course, so it was kind of exciting to anticipate this tour.

I was going to go to Long Beach too! Maybe I'll just head over to Selinsgrove or Danville instead.

(Special thanks to chatterati, jmyblues, for the postcard.)
