Now that it's not just dimming, but images and text on theatre marquees and/or advertising spaces, it might be a bit difficult to do it on the night. Still, that's something that nowadays can be done quickly. In fact, at least where I was on West 44th, no lights dimmed that I could see. We just got the images. I could tell from photos I saw that at least down at the Minskoff, the lights dimmed.
It's true that in the earliest instances we know of the lights-dimming honor, it was done very quickly after the person died. |
