A minor quibble is how overwrought some of his songs are (second only to the team of Shaiman and Wittman imho).
Ok, now I have come a long way with my now appreciation for JRB's writing - it took me a while to get there. But while I'm not exactly sure what's overwrought in Shaman and Wittman (possibly "Goodbye"?), the mention of that word immediately conjures up a good deal of what we hear from Jamie and Cathy, perhaps the two most overwrought characters in all of musical theatre lol. And that's no minor quibble. :-) |
