I already posted about Tommy (I can't be objective, I loved it, the sound was not too loud, Row P was a great vantage point).

* "Philadelphia, Here I Come" at Irish Rep: the star of their Friel Project this season, in my opinion. I had never seen the play before, so maybe it's this production, but it's really stellar. David McElwee and A.J. Shively, in particular, are turning it exemplary performances, especially Shively who goes all out with the opportunities given him in the role of the private Gar (okay, the man sitting next to me wished the two actors looked more alike, but I just wanted to watch these two actors). But the whole cast is impressive. Highly recommended, and poignant.

* Yes, I went back to "Days of Wine and Roses" (I didn't get the mug) after seeing and liking it Off-Broadway. I think it is (or it was) better on Broadway. Some tweaks to the production, possibly especially the ending, but the cast is/was just so, so good. Thoroughly enjoyed it, teared up (and thought Brian d'Arcy James always nails the roles that end with him on stage with a child - at least this one isn't/wasn't imaginary) and very happy I saw it again ($89 at TKTS Lincoln Center, Row E orchestra center).

* "Water for Elephants" - well, I didn't expect to like it, I have not read the book, and I knew very little going in, except that it's about a circus (full reveal - I did not pay for my ticket). I thought it was good, especially the cast, the choreography, and the music. It seemed like a very long show for a very simple (and not surprising - the word "elephant" is in the title) story. What makes this a must-see, though, is Greg Edelman. Wonderful to see him and to see him giving such a great performance - he really still "has it" and I'm very glad he was cast in this.

* "Dead Outlaw" - I had seen Yazbek's concert featuring the songs earlier, so I knew the story and most (?) of score. I have loved all of Yazbek's scores and love all of the shows they were in (yes, even "Woman on the Verge...," mess that it was). Enough people have posted about this show and I agree with all the accolades. A real fun show, if that's what you're looking for. Will do well regionally, but it would be great if they could find a more permanent place in New York.

* "Sally & Tom" at the public. I very much liked this play by Suzan Lori-Parks. On stage and backstage story about a play about Sally Hemmings and Thomas Jefferson. Impressive (yes, I'm repeating my adjectives) set and excellent cast, led by Sheria Irving and Gabriel Ebert in the title roles.

* "Classics Gone Mad" at Classic Stage (yes, I keep thinking of it as "Classics Gone Wild," which would be a whole other thing). I hadn't attended one of these before, and it was lots of fun. Hostess Jackie Cox did a great job. They do Broadway songs with audience-provided words plugged in like a Mad Libs (surprise) and they were fun, though they only did a handful, accompanied by a couple other performances, and singing along at the end.
