| I answered the question I thought you asked. I was surprised that I had to explain that, because I figured you would know it, but then I just thought hey maybe he’s not as up on the nonprofit as he is on the commercial. but I’m still not the question you were asking, because I’m genuinely surprised that you’re confused by this. It seems the question before us, if I am following your confusion correctly, is whether the agreement at the time would have identified Mandy specifically as the Artistic Director of Williamstown, and there is no reason to be surprised by the notion that Mandy specifically required her name be attached to the show. It is odd, because normally the language would affix the positions in perpetuity, but not necessarily the names, and because we would normally expect the co-head of the theater to be alongside the Artistic Director… but the egos of the people who run these various institutions, can be such that they make certain demands, and the needs of the artists and the enhancing producers are so great that they agree to those requests. Now, the competence of people who pull the language and put it in the programs can sometimes be a little spotty, and not everything gets a thorough proofread. So there’s the possibility this is just a mistake, and in the next Playbill printing we’ll see the current AD‘s name inserted. But if it is not, then the only logical conclusion is that Mandy Greenfield negotiated for Mandy Greenfield to be specifically named, and the only way that could’ve happened was through the negotiation process. So I don’t understand where the confusion is, which is why I’m a bit lost on what your question is. (mind you, this is the same Mandy Greenfield’s Williamstown Theatre Festival that reportedly built an outrageously expensive, water-filled pool for Lempica that was cut in tech because it couldn’t possibly be built correctly in the time and with the budget available, so the WTF shit show is real even before they were reduced to stranding human beings in the rain to potentially be electrocuted. Why would this one contract detail be any different? lol) |
