Mandy Gonzalez // Sunset Blvd.

At her concert last night just outside Chicago (Skokie, IL), Mandy Gonzalez gave an astonishing performance of 'If We Never Said Goodbye' which made me wonder if she might be the alternate Norma in the upcoming Broadway revival? Now, she sang it in the context of returning to Hamilton after the shut-down, so it could just be coincidental. But she feels of similar stature to Rachel Tucker, who was the standby in London, and with a 12-year-old daughter, might appreciate the lighter schedule.

All I can say is, after hearing her sing that song last night; I'd buy a full-price ticket to see her as Norma!

(Also, as a joke on the way in, I said to my friend: "I wonder if we'll hear any Dance of the Vampires tonight!" LO AND BEHOLD, she did talk about her time in that show and sang 'Total Eclipse of the Heart', with audience participation singing the back-up part. Smart choice since it's such a popular song in general. I was just so tickled!)
