Well, I think they want the score presented as Weill wrote it.
There have been professional productions that I think can be reasonably be regarded as major. Opera North did it, and is doing it again. Oh, I think I read that production or perhaps it's a concert is going to be recorded. It was done by the American Music Theatre Festival, which no longer exists, in Philadelphia, with Debbie Gravitte (then Shapiro) and Richard Muenz. That was damagingly adapted. And I think there's been at least on production by an opera company in Germany. |
