I generally agree with workerbee about this disappointing misfire of a production, but I was moved by Pill and wouldn’t blame her for playing the role somewhat as a tomboy.
There are several themes in VANYA that resonate today, but don’t require an updated script using contemporary lingo.
IMHO, the casting and direction are the large problems, which are exacerbated by the modern language and the unattractive production. |
