Apparently the tony committee had a second meeting over a week ago and still hasn’t announced the decisions. Some suggest that appropriation might be trying to change to new play.
In any event, prepandemic doesn’t matter. Between riverside was offbroadway in 2014 and still considered new play last year. Cost of living won the Pulitzer in 2019 and was considered a new play. Here lies love is considered a new musical when it was at the public in 2013.
We don’t know if appropriate or Mary Jane are new or revival until the committee makes the determination and officially announces. |
