I think a lot depends on what kind of experience you want- family drama with racial-political undercurrents, political drama, hyper realistic music group recording, etc. I’ve seen two of the four- will see the other two in the coming days. I think Stereophonic is hands down the best play of the season. I can’t imagine anything else topping it. Last night was my third time seeing it - saw it twice at Playwrights. The music is extraordinary- perhaps the best new music of the season. It’s hyper-realistic in tone. Some below have described it as fly on the wall / slice of life, which I think minimizes what it’s doing. I’d say it shows a great window into the creative process, among many other things. And great ensemble work. It’s over three hours and every second is riveting.
