| I am glad you liked the show. I happened to loathe it, but both of our opinions are subjective. I think it will be shut out of awards beyond acting and technical, but not because he voters are snobs, but because there is a very big difference between what is enjoyable fun and what is well crafted. You yourself have said "it's not a great musical," so, even from someone who really enjoyed it, do you think it deserves to be in the class of "Best Musical?" I guess it depends on one's criteria for "best," but to me, most of the other new musicals, despite their flaws, work a lot harder at striving for something more than empty calories. Just as even though I might enjoy the occasional Hershey bar, I wouldn't call it the "best" chocolate. Maybe I am as snobby as you imagine the voters to be. | |
