Wayman's made a tremendous case for this show, both here in this post and previously. His insights are wonderfully valuable, and I will agree that the project itself -- and the contributions of its VERY VERY talented cast -- are notable, historic, and significant.

I only saw the Broadway mounting, and I simply did not think it was a good musical. Just my own opinion of course, but I didn't find any of the characters to be sympathetic, I had very little sense of what was at stake for them, personally, and I predicted that the show would fail on Broadway due to its weak book.

I wouldn't want any show writer to think that they have to follow a template from previously successful shows, but both EVITA and HAMILTON show very interesting ways to dramatize history over decades of time. HERE LIES LOVE was lacking drama.

If there's no drama, I don't care what happens.

That said, I would've been happy to see a nomination for Mr. Ricamora, who consistently shines in every role he performs.
