The recording was made to send out to potential backers to entice them to invest in the show to open at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre on April 17, 1977, running for 857 performances. An expanded release of the 1961 OBC recording of Kwamina, recorded after the show closed. Music and lyrics by Richard Adler. The cast includes Sally Ann Howes, Terry Carter, Brock Peters and Robert Guillaume. Also included: alternate takes from the album sessions and a special bonus recording of "Another Time, Another Place" by Sally Ann Howes, recorded in July 1962 for the public information broadcast "Stars For Defense"; and a bonus disc of cover recordings from Kwamina, including a never before released on CD studio cast recording, a jazz interpretation by the Billy Taylor Orchestra, and pop covers by Al Martino, The Kingston Trio and Gordon MacRae.
