| The 2024 Grammy nominees for Best Musical Theater Album are: * ''Kimberly Akimbo'' * ''Parade'' * ''Shucked'' * ''Some Like It Hot'' * ''Sweeney Todd'' Often, Grammy picks the Tony-winning Best Musical. In the past 10 years: ''Kinky Boots,'' ''Hamilton,'' ''Dear Evan Hansen,'' ''Band's Visit,'' ''Hadestown.'' The Grammys also love Sondheim, who's won 6 times in this category. More recently, the 2022 ''Into the Woods'' beat ''MJ,'' ''Six'' and ''A Strange Loop.'' (Sometimes, the Grammys surprise. ''Riverdance'' beat ''Rent.'' ''Next to Normal'' and ''Memphis,'' both Tony winners for Score, weren't even nominated.) Speaking of theater, two Sondheim-themed albums are up for Best Traditional Pop: Liz Callaway's ''To Steve With Love'' & ''Sondheim Unplugged, Vol. 3.'' The other Traditional Pop nominees are: Rickey Lee Jones, Laufey, Pentatonix and some guy who already has a special 2018 Tony Award: Bruce Springsteen! |
