I imagine there must be some contingency plan whenever the flying carpet doesn't fly at Disney's ''Aladdin.''

Last year, I caught the national tour of ''Aladdin,'' and I could swear the flying seemed far simplified from what I had seen on Broadway.

Elsewhere, I read there was a preview for ''Back to the Future,'' where the DeLorean car didn't fly. And it sounds like they skipped that scene.

Some disappointed theatergoers complained the next day and were invited to return to see the show again. (Has the car always ''flown'' ever since?)
