Thanks for the clarifications. I'm sure you're right about the "Not A Day Goes By" lyrics, though certainly Frank never sang the version the Sondheim wrote for Beth.
We could also add a footnote about "The Glamorous Life" film version, and also that the song that became "Send In The Clowns" was originally promised for Fredrik, not Desiree. And of course all the songs in Follies that got taken away from the actors and "given" just to the orchestra (or the onstage combo, in the case of "Foxtrot"). |
