A quick look at wikpedia receals that the play with Langella was based on the very same stageplay that Bram Stoker’s widow had overseen. The same one which Bela Lugosi premiered in. The same one his play was based on. And that script served as the basis for Langella’s film. Olivier was VanHelsing in the movie. So…that original stage version stood the test of time. And the Langella play was famed for Gorey’s Tony-winning stage designs. (And for Langella’s charismatic work; he was a stunner at that stage of his career)
