Fun trip for sure.

* Jelly's: I've already commented, but thought it was a thoroughly enjoyable presentation, though a little fuzzy on the real Jelly

* Seven Year Disappear: took a few minutes for me to understand what was going on, but a very compelling story about difficult and troubled people in the arts. Wonderful performances by Cynthia Nixon and Taylor Trensch, and great techie staging.

* Brooklyn Laundry: I guess the matinee had been canceled for non-COVID illness, and it must have been Cecely Strong because she was out in the evening. But Adriana DeMeo (from the reaction of the cast, it must have been her first performance in the lead) was fantastic - perfect for this character (and, only knowing Strong from TV, maybe DeMeo is better suited). Great cast, with a couple favorite recent actors (Andrea Syglowski and David Zayas). I enjoyed the play (fantastic Loquasto set for this space) quite a bit, but it seems sparse and over-stuffed at the same time, at least by the end. Definitely worth seeing.

* All the Devils Are Here: I cannot praise Patrick Paige enough - what a voice, with a presence to match, and very enthusiastic and fascinating in this one-man show about Shakespeare villains (and other things). I'm not super knowledgeable about the tragedies, but that's not necessary. He also did a very generous and interesting talkback.

* The Ally: Many will comment that it's a talky play, and it is a very, very talky play. Israel/Palestine/U.S. police violence/racism. And a man in the middle wanting to do the right thing. Two hours and forty minutes and not a dull moment, for me.

* Grand Hotel 35th anniversary and Tommy Tune's 85th birthday at 54 Below: Well, wow. It was really great. I'll link the 54 Below page for the cast list (there are still two performances tonight, too) - including two young women in the ensemble who are related to theatre royalty, one being Harper Lee Andrews; Luther Davis' widow Jennifer Bassey Davis ... Keith Crowningshield narrated the story and they used the whole space (not easy in that room). In the audience: Tommy Tune, Maury Yeston, Julie Budd, Marilyn Maye, and other notables. An honor to be there. I'm ready for a revival.
