The 1968 Tonys weren't spoiled for choice - though I do think they gave the award to the 2d best show of a not very good lot. The longest running show nominated musical ILLYA DARLING (320 perfs); HALLELUJAH BABY ran 293. THE HAPPY TIME logged 286, and would have been my choice; HOW NOW, DOW JONES only ran 220. Shows passed over by nominators included GEORGE M (which ran a year) and Bob Merrill's HENRY SWEET HENRY - certainly better than HOW NOW and ILLYA (I saw them all!) It was also the season of GOLDEN RAINBOW and several flops like I'M SOLOMON.
