As an actor, I don't have to think of anything sad in order to cry on cue. For me, it's one of the easiest things to do. I don't even need to use the sadness of the scene. There are physical things we do when we cry. So I do those little physical things and I cry. Just like laughing on cue. Don't think about it, just do it. I learned that from working with Estelle Parsons. If she is supposed to laugh, she laughs. She doesn't need to think of something funny. You just do it because that's what the moment calls for. It probably helps that I have been through a lot emotionally in my life being that I have bipolar disorder. Thinking of a real sad event 8 shows a week doesn't sound healthy though so I would never go that way.
