Included in that bio was the line "All my love to my wife, XYZ." In the interim, they had gone through a particularly unpleasant divorce.
I've worked for several regional theatres who have requested NO personal statements in bios, including dedications. Frankly, I tend to agree with that. I think a professional bio should be about your job, not your personal life. They also often ask that we not express the cliche of "[performer] is excited to be appearing at [theatre name]" etc. I mean, everyone hopes you're happy to be working there - and if not, I doubt you'd say that in a bio. :-) |
