Maybe if ''Grease Live'' had just been on TV, that might be a selling point. But that ''Grease'' is now 8 years old.
I'd argue Tveit's following has grown thanks to his Tony-winning long runs in ''Moulin Rouge!'' (and even his TV exposure in ''Schmigadoon!'')
As Dramedy notes, ''Sweeney Todd'' has been grossing between $1.2 million and $1.4 million in recent weeks, which is pretty admirable. That would seem to suggest that those who want to see ''Sweeney'' on Broadway are, in sizable part, drawn by Tveit and Foster. As of last week, it was doing 95% capacity.
(For the weeks post-Groban & Ashford and pre-Tveit & Foster, its ''unknown'' understudies were grossing about $775,000-$850,000.) |
