When DEATH OF KLINGHOEFFER opened at the Met, there was one protestor who had bought a ticket, who at one point was shouting his protest. The performance stopped for less than 5 minutes as the protestor was escorted out by security. We have free speech in the US, and a right to protest, even if it disrupts some one else's activity. If the protest violates a law, and if the theatre wants to bring charges, that's their right. ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE's plot can easily be compared to the denial of climate science, so one can see why they targeted this play. One can argue that 99% of the people who see Ibsen's play will be on the side of Peter Stockmann who won't be silenced about the contamination of the town's water supply. So in a great sense these protestors were protesting to the converted. But they have ap oint to protest - though doing so at a show that might have a higher proportion of climate change deniers in the audience might be more productive - WICKED, LION KING, MJ, MOULIN ROUGE - big shows with general American audiences, rather than a classic play revival with more of a tri-State audience.
