Thanks for posting that.
It was a hit at the National Theatre and moved to the West End for a limited run.

It deals with the rehearsal process for the 1964 production of HAMLET directed by John Gielgud at the Lunt-Fontanne. Great starry cast: Burton, Hume Cronyn, Alfred Drake, George Rose, John Collum, Eileen Herlie et al. Done in street clothes on a generally bare stage. Elizabeth Taylor was not in it, but was the object of considerable media attention given her relationship with Burton.

The play ran during the 63-64 NY World’s Fair. IIRC from Variety, it grossed about $72k each week, selling out all seats.

I hope some producers will bring this interesting new play to Broadway.
