"...but frankly I am sick of the who, what, where questions about new shows that arrive on Broadway. I do a lot of research to ensure that the subject will be something I care about. Wikipedia is easy to use and contains footnotes for further investigation..."

No argument with anticipating the pleasure of surprise, of entering an artistic experience cold. We embrace spoiler content for a reason. But that's a rather different subject than 1) a show's inability to communicate - or locate in development - its creative raison d'etre; and/or 2) its unclear identity in marketing. In 2024, when tickets run from $169 upward, audiences will always prefer to be informed consumers, too, and a show with marketing challenges is harder to inspire curiosity. It's unlikely that most people are willing to plunk down $300+ for a pair of tickets with the understanding that Wikipedia might provide needed context for the experience.
