Andrews would never have taken on a Broadway stage role in 1980 because her daughters Amy and Joanna were little girls, ages 7 and 5 respectively. She has made it clear in interviews and books that being a responsible and fully engaged mother to her children was the most important thing in her life.
There was a report in the NY Times in November of 1987 that she was contemplating bringing her concert A Captivating Evening with Julie Andrews to Broadway but it didn't happen. |
