I think it's a mediocre season, and this is reflected in the large number of mixed reviews from critics. I think (to generalize) there's a lot of "love it or hate it" here in the forum, but I think critics are doing a decent job of pointing out what works and what doesn't for them—even if I don't always agree with their assessment. I hardly think the producers of, say, Cabaret or Lempicka are feeling "overpraised" at the moment!

(And the same is true of London as well. To pick just a single example, Amiens below suggests that The Hills of California was "overrated"... but the reviews were pretty mixed and pretty uniformly suggested that it was not a patch on Jerusalem or The Ferryman.)
