I thought The Little Big Things, much as I didn't care it. had a handful of decent songs. My main quibble was the lack of structure or considered thought around how to build the story. For instance, VERY early in the first act we get the main character's mother rendering a highly-emotional and personal number - aside from the fact that she is a mother we know nothing else about her so why do we care enough to engage with a five minute meltdown set to music? It was as jarring as putting "Rose's Turn" in the place of "Some People". Up until that put I was mildly enjoying the show but the onslought of cliched lyrics, meant to evoke tears and compassion, just put me at a distance at never won me back.

It did have some decent performances in spite of that, but to me, it was a shining example of laziness in writing/direction as they had a very interesting story to work with but not the creative maturity/craft to make it truly resonate, at least not for me.
