Yellowface is, I guess, a more recent term because Asian characters didn't exist on stage in Western pop culture until more recently. But it's the same practice, something that simultaneous rewards actors from the dominant culture while dehumanizing people who are seen as "foreign".

Richard is, I think, unique because Shakespeare's interpretation of him is such a grotesque imagining that his physical deformity tilts into camp (or panto)... but perhaps that is the argument for prioritizing actors with disabilities, as a way to reclaim and rebalance the trope of the disabled person as the villain in our culture. I think we agree that there is much more to be mined here than the simplicity presented from both the Globe and the disabled actor advocacy group.
