did Hal ever speak/write about his thoughts on the Cabaret film or Mendes revival?

I can't remember if I've ever read anything, but I'd be very curious if he spoke in interviews or wrote about them at all.

I'm sure the awards recognition the film got only helped him and his investors money as the stage show presumably became even more popular to produce after that (and perhaps the film right also contributed?)... but I mean his opinion of it artistically, or if he had intended/hoped/been in talks to direct the film.

And of course he would have been extremely aware of the Mendes revival, he was still very actively working when it opened and ran. I have a feeling I know what he would have thought, from reading his thoughts on Cabaret in general, and conversations I've had with him personally about other revivals of things... but I'm curious if he talked about it directly anywhere.
