Many theatre-lovers bought tickets at crazy high prices because critics blared that the Radcliffe/Groff/Mendez team was incredible.
I, too, saw it without Mendez and felt the whole affair rather flat--wondering what the hullabaloo was all about. Is Mendez the key to making it work? I'll never know.
I paid for a certain promised cast, and that's not what I got. Sure, we can march to the box office and demand a refund, but most of us rearranged our lives to be there for that specific perfgorm. Rarely would anyone go demand a refund after they've been seated unless you're a real fan of the person missing.
Mendez apparent has pattern of missing specific days. The producers obviously don't want the paying public to know which ones.
It'll be an extra insult if she gets nominated for a Tony for a role few have seen her in. |
