Yes, there were many great examples of that star vacation replacement! Lansbury did sub for Constance Towers and Michael Kermoyan played The King for that fortnight. And in the original production Celeste Holm filled in for Gertrude Lawrence, who was of course battling cancer but wanted to return. (And Alfred Drake went in for Yul Brunner the next year.)
