After years of trying to find another explanation, I have come to the conclusion that the world is divided into two groups of people: those who can't fathom a reason other than money to produce a show, and those who can.
As I have written here a few times at least, over the years, I don't recall speaking with a producer who did not believe in the show they were producing. Sometimes they believed it would make them money (in which case they were usually wrong) and sometimes they just believed in the goodness of the show itself (more likely right).
Finally, to produce a show as a tax write-off is to not understand how the tax laws work. |
